The Plateau chapter of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), has applauded the state government, for the timely release of fertilisers at subsidised rates to farmers in the state.
Mr John Wuyep, the Chairman of the association who gave the commendation in an interview with Journalists in Jos said that the gesture would enhance production of crops, ensure higher yields and boost agricultural activities.
He added that the timely distribution of fertilisers and other farming inputs would also improve the state’s economy.
“We wish to commend the state government for the timely distribution of fertilisers and other farming inputs to farmers at subsidised rates.
“This will boost agricultural activities in the state and also grow the economy. We know our governor is farmer-friendly and wish that he continues to make agriculture his priority by giving the sector the desired attention, ” he said.
Wuyep also commended the 17 local government areas in the state for keying into the vision to prioritise agriculture, by making fertilisers available to farmers at the local levels at subsidised rates.
It would be recalled that the state government in May 2019 launched the sale of fertilisers at subsidised rates to farmers.
