Morocco’s CPI rises by 0.3%

Morocco’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) was up 0.3% in September from a year earlier, slowing from an 0.8% rise in the previous month, the high commission for planning said on Tuesday.

Food prices rose 0.3% year-on-year in September, while non-food prices increased by 0.6%.

On a month-on-month basis, the consumer price index dropped 0.2% in September.

Core annual inflation dropped 0.1% in September on a month-on-month basis, but was still 1% higher year-on-year.

Inflation, mainly affected by food prices, is expected to slow to 0.6% in 2019 from 1.9% last year, before picking up to 1.2% in 2020 as domestic demand improves, according to the central bank.
