19 governorship candidates drop ambition for APC in Gombe

19 candidates in Gombe State have left the race of the Governorship seat for the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Alhaji Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya, in the coming Saturday Governorship election.

Addressing journalists in Gombe, the Spokesman for the candidates, Ambassador Morondiya Aiye of the Unity Party of Nigeria, UPN said the decision to support the APC candidate was reached after extensive deliberations within them.

The gubernatorial candidates have unanimously agreed to keep their personal interest aside and put the interest of Gombe state in front by endorsing the candidature of Inuwa Yahya of the APC for the coming governorship election in Gombe state.

He said the 19 parties and other 28, that had not fielded any candidate were now calling on their supporters and the entire electorate in the state to cast their votes to the APC candidate.

He said the move would ensure a collective change of government as he further gave assurance of huge transformation in the state.

Mr. Aiye also urged the people of the state to come out en-masse to exercise their franchise and vote for a candidate of their choice, without fear of intimidation by agents of destruction and anti-democratic people.

He adds that security agencies would continue to protect the lives of the citizens during and after the elections.
