2018 AMVCA holds in Lagos

The 6th edition of the annual Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards AMVCA has held in Lagos, Nigeria at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites.

The event attracted actors, musicians, politicians and other industry big wigs across Africa.

The award which had various categories saw nominees emerging winners in some categories decided by viewers’ votes while some were decided by the judges.

Some of the winners include Omotola Jalade Ekehinde who won her first AMVCA as best actress in a movie, drama or tv series and Odunlade Adekoya who also won his first AMVCA as the best actor in a comedy, movie or tv series.

The award night really saw a number of first time winners.

Other winners include Lydia Forson as best supporting actress in a comedy, movie or tv series and Bisola Ariola of Big Brother Naija 2017 as the winner of the trailblazer award.

Isoken the movie won in the best writer’s category as well as best director.

The biggest win for the night was best overall movie which went to 18 Hours.

The event was hosted by Ik Osakioduwa from Nigeria and Dlamini Jones from South Africa.

Although some movies like Potato Potato and Lotanna which were nominated in different categories could not get a single win, next year is another time to try again.
