2019 Hajj: Sokoto State concludes airlifting of pilgrims

The Sokoto State government has concluded Airlifting of 3,481 intending Pilgrims 48 hours to the closure of Madina airspace for the 2019 Hajj Activities.

In a statement issued to journalists in Sokoto, the State Amirul Hajj who is also Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Mr Manir Muhammad Daniya, stated the development from the city of Madina, Saudi Arabia.

Mr Daniya said Despite five days delay in the Airlift of Sokoto Pilgrms from Flynas airline the State was able to complete all airlifts of the pilgrims to Madina in time before the commencement of 2019 Hajj Exercise.

He added that the administration of Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has contributed immensely in ensuring the timely completion of the process through the State Pilgrims Walfare Agency.

The Amirul Hajj said all Sokoto Intending Pilgrims are now in the Ancient city of Madina visiting all the Holy sites and most especially the Tomb and Mosque of the Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Mr Daniya however explained that four out of the eight flights of the pilgrims is already on transit to Makka.
He said the remaining would be evacuated to Makka before the full commencement of the excercise.

The Amirul Hajj also said twenty out of the Pilgrims are officials which includes ten Medical Personal who will handle any Health related issues of the Intending Pilgrims while the remaining ten are government delegations appointed to over see the 2019 Hajj exercise of the State.

The Deputy Governor confirmed the death of one Female intending Pilgrim from Goronyo local government over a brief Illness.

He commended the efforts of officials from the State Pilgrims Walfare Agency in handling the case and pray to Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased.
