The Kogi State Traditional Council has congratulated President Muhmammadu Buhari for securing a second term of office.
The Council has also prayed for the success of the current administration under the leadership of President Buhari.
The Council made these known on Wednesday, during a courtesy visit on the Nigerian leader t the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Addressing State House Correspondents soon after the visit, Spokesperson for the group, the Obaru of Kaba, Oba Solomon Owoniyin said they were in they were happy that Nigerians voted President Buhari for a second term of office.
“We are here on behalf of all traditional rulers in Kogi State to congratulate the President for winning the last Presidential election. The election was so hectic but to God be the glory at the end of the day the President came back for a second term and his mandate was revalidated by most Nigerians especially the people of Kogi State.
“Secondly we came to pray for him that this last lap is very critical in the chequered history of Nigeria and it’s our wish and prayer that all the aspirations of the President will come to fruition without rancour,” he said.
The traditional ruler, who spoke on behalf of the President of the Kogi State traditional Council, the Atta of Igala, said the traditional rulers were in the State House to request for more dividends of democracy form the Federal government.
He said: “Since we voted for the President, as Oliver Twist, we will request for more so we have upgraded our list of demands from the Kogi State and the President has graciously alluded to most of our request.”
Oba Owoniyin said the traditional rulers used the opportunity to re-introduce the Governor to President Buhari, ahead of the November 16 gubernatorial election in Kogi State.
He said contrary to insinuations in the social media, traditional rulers in Kogi State are not partisan.
“We came to re-introduce our Governor to the President, demanding for normal support since they belong to the same party. The issue of endorsement is not here the people at home had already endorsed Alhaji Yahaya Bello for second term so we don’t need to re-endorse him in Abuja here and we are happy the President received us very well and the traditional rulers have reconfirmed their support for both the federal and state government,” he said.
