96th Economic Council meeting begins in Abuja

The 96th meeting of the National Economic Council, NEC, has begun on Thursday with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo presiding.

It is the fourth meeting of the Council in 2019.

The meeting, which began at 11 am Nigerian time, has most of the 36 state governors in attendance, while others are being represented by their deputies.

Also at the meeting are the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello, Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed.

Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, is suggesting that there be presentations on health at the meeting.

The National Economic Council is chaired by the vice president and has governors of the 36 states, Minister of Finance, Minister of Petroleum, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, as members.
