Abia gubernatorial polls: Ikpeazu gets ‘decisive’ second term win

The incumbent Governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Okezie Ikpeazu has been declared the winner of the Gubernatorial election in Abia State.

Governor Ikpeazu got 261,127 to defeat other candidates of the main opposition parties in the state.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate Uchechukwu Ogah got 99, 574 votes, the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA candidate, Felix Otti got 64,366 while SDP candidate, Dr Blessing Nwagba got 2,191 votes.

The returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Benjamin Ozurumba said the total number of valid votes were 433,315.

The number of votes rejected votes were 11,061 while the total votes cast were 444,376.

Thirty-two candidates from the 43 political parties in Abia State contested for the governorship election.

The election was held on March 9, 2019.
