Mr Ahmed Idris, the Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), says the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF), will assist the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), to realize its mandate.
Mr Oise Johnson, Head, Press and Public Relations Unit, OAGF, said this in Abuja
Johnson said Idris gave the assurance when he received Mr Ahmed Dangiwa, who led the bank’s management team on a courtesy visit.
The AGF said the recent efforts of the bank to deploy Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in managing its operations were gratifying.
He particularly commended the use of ICT in the contribution to the National Housing Fund (NHF) by public servants across the nation.
“We will be ready to provide the needed support and guide in helping you achieve this all important step, which I believe will bring renewed confidence to your customers and contributors,” said Idris.
He added that the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) platform through which payments were carried out was constantly improved upon to meet all the needs of staff.
This, he said, was because it captured details of deductions and contributions made on staff salary.
He gave the assurance that the OAGF would do all it could to assist the mortgage bank achieve transparency in handling the NHF, which was 2.5 percent of the basic salary of contributors.
“The synergy that has existed between us would be deepened for the mutual benefit of our organisztions,” Idris said.
Dangiwa appreciated the AGF for what he described as “the smooth operation” of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) and other reforms being implemented by his office.
He, however, called for more collaboration with the FMBN to enable them succeed in delivering their mandate.
