The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as Adamawa state governor elect.
The returning officer of Adamawa state governorship election, Professor Andrew Haruna made the announcement after collating the supplementary election from 14 LGAs that was conducted on Thursday 28 march 2019.
Professor Andrew Haruna said Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri having scored the highest votes and having satisfied the requiremenys of the law, he returned as the governor elect.
Fintiri won the contest with a margin of 40,156 votes, ahead of his major contender and the incumbent governor of Adamawa State Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow.
Andrew said Fintiri won the contest by scoring 376,552 votes far ahead of his major contender governor Bindow who scored 336,386 votes. while the second runner up of the contest and the candidate of African Democratic Party (ADC), Abdulazeez Murtala Nyako, scored 113,237 votes while the third runner up and the candidate of the SDP, Emmanuel Bello, scored 29,792 votes.
He said the state has a total of 1,973,083 registered voters while the total number of accredited voters stand 905,346.
Professor Andrew also disclosed that the election recorded 871,307 total valid votes while 27,790 votes were rejected just as total votes cast stand at 899,097.
