The Adamawa State Government has relaxed the 24-hour curfew earlier imposed on the troubled communities of Lamurde Local Government Area.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri had imposed a 24-hour curfew on, Tingno Dutse, Tito, Sabon Layi and Bagashi villages following the eruption of violence in the areas.
A statement by the government said the four communities were now to observe a dusk to dawn curfew, from 6pm to 6am, until further notice.
The statement highlighted that Governor Fintiri had also banned operation of motorcycles within the four areas; warning that any violation of the government effort at restoring peace in the affected areas would face corresponding punishment. This, according to the statement was because security agencies had been directed to ensure strict compliance with the restriction order.
“Adamawa State Governor would continue to explore all means possible towards achieving peace in the local government area and other hot spots in the State,” the statement continued.
The Governor appealed to residents to exercise patience and remain calm.
“Government will do its best to uncover the cause of the crisis, and deal with culprits, in accordance with the law”.
