Agency confiscates illicit drugs in Kano

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA says it has dislocated forty-five (45) drugs joint within the month of February in Kano state Northwestern Nigeria.

The state commander of NDLEA, Dr Ibrahim Abdul stated this during a media parley in Kano state where he explained that the agency has arrested 250 drug addicts with different types of drugs among which are Canavis Satativa, Heroin, and Cocaine.

Dr Ibrahim Abdul stated that as a result of rigorous vigilance by the personnel of the agency, illicit drugs like Tramadol and cough syrup with Codeine have been confiscated in the state.

He said the command was able to seize Canavis of about 872 kilogram, 715 kilogram of sycotraphic substances, cocaine 400 Grams and khats 50 grams making a total of 1.637kg.

Drug free society
The state commander urged politicians to shun the act of misguiding the populace especially vulnerable youths into political thuggery as a means towards having a drug free society.

He further explained that some politicians in the state were in the habit of using their premises’ or campaign offices to commit offences related to illicit use of drugs which was a great violation of the NDLEA act.

Dr Abdul said those criminals found dealing with drugs in those premises had been apprehended, while the politicians invited by NDLEA are currently facing investigations.

He adds that the Kano state has charged the general public to be law abiding as nobody is above the law while warning anyone found wanting in drug abuse and trafficking would be dealt with decisively.
