Airline company seeks cooperation with Kaduna State

Dornier Aviation Nigeria AIEP (DANA) has expressed the desire to cooperate with the Kaduna State government in aviation related service support.

This cooperation is in the area of reconnaissance aircraft to support the State government in it’s effort to integrate and use the remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS)/drones into operational support for the ongoing fight against the criminal activities in the State.

The call was made by the Managing Director of the Company in Kaduna, Mark Snoxell when he led the Company’s Board of Directors on a courtesy visit to Governor El-Rufai.

Snoxell said DANA has well qualified and licensed engineers as well as operational personnel to support its own fleet, several government agencies, companies and sister aviation companies, hence, the call for the support.

“We have trained Nigerian staff to professional levels; commercial pilots, engineers, technicians, licensed aircraft operators and dispatchers and other supporting staff,” he stressed.

Speaking on the Company’s activities, Snoxell explained that the company provided non-scheduled aircraft charter operations, regular and spot charter operations, maintenance and training service support to airlines, charter companies and private aircraft owners in Nigeria and West African Sub-region.

He said human capacity development and transfer of technology have been the cardinal policy of the company with very high level of local content of indigent natives from the communities the company is operating with greater number of people from Kaduna State as their main operational base.

According to him, “Dornier Aviation currently has a staff strength of over 250 and is arguably one of the leading employer of labour in the Country as per the aviation sector of the Nigerian economy is concerned.”

”DANA is further committed through increased investment to further develop aviation infrastructures as leading aviation complex in the areas of expanded aircraft maintenance base, flight operations and many more  activities in pilot training,”the Managing Director said.

He added that Dornier Avaition also recognised and commended the State Governor on his investment drive, transformation and development of the State.

Governor Nasiru El-Rufai said; ”government appreciates the presence of Dornier Aviation in Kaduna State as they add value not only to the Nigerian Aviation sector but to the State’s local economy as well.”

He assured the company that the State has a duty to do whatever it can to protect it as long as it does not go against the interest of Nigeria.

“We thank you for the visit. Our job is to attract businesses to Kaduna, protect investors and also enable them to expand. We will support you so that you can increase your staff strength from 250-1000 so long it is within our resources and power,” the Governor promised.

Dornier Aviation Nigeria AIEP (DANA) was founded in 1979 as AIEP with 60:40 ratio of foreign to Nigeria shareholders. The company has since established a well-equipped base in Kaduna and is the major aviation development and service facility in Northern Nigeria.
