In the last few hours, there have been several reactions to Nigeria’s AFCON 2019 defeat by Algeria.

But how did the Eagles players take the result?

Acting captain Ahmed Musa sounded rather philosophical.

Defender William Troost-Ekong, who scored an own-goal to give the Desert Foxes the lead, urged the team to put the defeat behind.

New discovery Samuel Chukwueze expressed sadness for the Eagles ouster, but also thanked fans for their unprecedented support.

“We gave all we had until the end and were unlucky to lose with the last kick.
Not the result we all hoped for. Thanks for believing so much in us,” he said.

“Don’t stop now because we all are great! We are Nigerians. We focus now on the next game.Thank you all!”

The Super Eagles must dust themselves and prepare for the third place match against Tunisia on Wednesday to end their campaign on a high.
