Makoji said the NNPC is ready and “We are just waiting for the President to virtually flag-off this important infrastructure.”
“In line with the protocols of COVID-19, provisions have also been made at the Ajaokuta site, for hand washing facilities at the entry point. We also have two well kitted ambulances that would be on stand-by during the flag-off, to handle any emergency.”
Also speaking, the Group Head, Technical Services of the constructing firm, OilServe Limited, Engr Chigozie Obi said the company is fully ready for Wednesday’s event.
“We are fully set, fully ready for the flag-off, the actual work has commenced, we have done our bush clearing and pipes will soon be laid and the flag-off will tell the world that this work has commenced,” he said.
A visit to the site shows that finishing touches are being put to the venue, from where the Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Mele Kyari and the Governor of Kogi State will physically participate.
Even the road leading to the premises is wearing a new look and both the State capital Lokoja and Ajaokuta town are agog with activities as the people of the State express delight on the take-off of the project.
The event is to commence at 10:00 GMT simultaneously at both the Ajaokuta and Kaduna ends of the multi billion-naira project.
