The Governor of Niger state in North Central Nigeria Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello will appear before the Governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Minna the State Capital on Friday in defence of alleged certificate forgery brought against him by the Peoples Democratic Party Gubernatorial Candidate in the state Alhaji Umar Mohammed Nasko .

Lead Counsel to the Governor Jibrin Samuel Okutepa SAN stated this while tendering his request during the tribunal sitting on Thursday  in Minna the Niger State Capital.

Jibrin Samuel Okutepa explained that after petitioners Umar Nasko and the PDP presented only one witness and closed their case he will bring his clients Governor Abubakar Sani Bello and the PDP on Friday.

“My clients have nothing to hide as such they will appear to testify during the sitting” according to Samuel Okutepa

Due to inability of the Subpoena witnesses to appear before the tribunal as required by the counsel to the petitioners the counsel presented the state Chairman of PDP Barrister Tanko Beji as the only petitioners witness.

Barrister Tanko Beji had earlier adopted his four witness statements on oath and asked the tribunal to use them as evidence in the petition.

Counsel to the petitioners Mohammed Ndayako tendered some documents which the witness mentioned in his statement on oath as evidence.

While counsel to the respondents objected the admission of the documents as evidence, he promised to address the tribunal on documents in their final written addresses.

Presiding Judge Justice John Igboji adjourned the sitting to the next day for the defence for respondents to open their defence.
