The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido, has assured residents that they will never regret having him as their leader, as he would rededicate himself to inclusively efficient service delivery to them.

The Chairman, who spoke after his re-election for a second term in office, thanked the people for conducting themselves in an orderly and peaceful manner during the just concluded Area Council elections.

Recall that Candido, who is the incumbent AMAC Chairman, was declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of the last Saturday’s F.C.T Area Councils elections.

Declaring the results in Abuja at the Council collation Centre, the Returning Officer, Prof Muhammadu Umaru Ndagi of Department of Linguistics University of Abuja said Candido won after he pulled total votes of 53,538 to defeat his main opponent, Princess Anazodo, who got 35, 753 votes, thereby winning with a margin of 17,785 votes.

Reacting to the development, the AMAC boss, described his victory as an opportunity to continue to do his best to transform the Council in such a way that it would have positive impact on the lives of the residents.

According to him:“It’s always my idea that with this opportunity given to me by my people to lead them for another three years, i will even work harder than i have done in last three years. They will never regret having me as their leader by the grace of God.

“We are thinking of coming up with a government that is all inclusive, so that everybody will feel a sense of belonging.

“We should be magnanimous in victory and those who lost should also accept it in good faith, because tomorrow will be another day, and it could be their turn.

“Nobody should feel bad because of the outcome, of course the fact remains that you could lose today; and could win tomorrow. It may not be a win-win or lose-lose thing all the time.”

Similarly, AMAC Vice Chairman, Hon. Lawrence Onuchukwu, noted that although the turnout of voters was not too encouraging, but the people voted without hitches during the exercise.

Onuchukwu also thanked the residents for conducting themselves in a very peaceful manner while they cast their votes, urging them to sustain such trend.

He reiterated that the Candido’s-led AMAC leadership will continue to work for the good people of the Council.
