AMAC Chairman signs 2020 Budget, tasks appointees on implementation

The Council Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, in the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido has assented to the 2020 budget after legislation by the Council Legislative arms.

It could be recalled that, in line with budgetary provisions the Chairman had presented the 2020 budget proposal of the sum of N8.7b to the legislative arm for legislation.

The budget which was tagged “Budget of Actualisation”, was aimed at actualising his campaign promises to the people of the Council.

While assenting to the bill, the Council Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu Candido said the administration is out to renew its commitment in pursuing the present administration’s ideologies on ensuring basic social amenities are made available despite noticeable financial challenges.

Alhaji Candido appreciated the effort of the legislators for putting all their time to ensure the speedy passage of the documents.

The Chairman who assured the Council that implementation of the budget will commence immediately also charged the legislative arm to embark on healthy oversight function and monitoring to check and balance the activities of each unit in the Area Council.

The Chairman also directed the administrative department to officially stop the payment of salaries of those working outside the council for proper management of resources to fund the 2020 budget, stressing that nobody will receive double salary under his watch.

He further disclosed that the Council will soon engage in E-Business to fasten the ways of doing things in the Council just as he revealed that the council will not tolerate delay in implementation of the project.

Alhaji Candido tasked each Supervisory Councillor and Special Adviser to ensure the completion of one project in their department or constituents respectively between January and May 2020.

He also directed that tender process must begin by 2nd January, 2020 and finish by first week of February, 2020.
