Amazon Fire: Trump throws weight behind Brazilian leader

U.S. President, Donald Trump says his country is fully supportive of Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro efforts to fight raging wildfires in the Amazon.

Trump expressed this position in a tweet – which many analysts may see as yet another break with Western allies over the never-ending debate about climate change and the environment; as well as their commitment to fight the Amazon fire – following the conclusion of the G-7 Summit in France on Monday.

Bolsonaro is working very hard on the Amazon fires and in all respects doing a great job for the people of Brazil, not easy.

“He and his country have the full and complete support of the USA.’’

Without wasting time, the Brazilian leader quickly responded on Twitter, saying his country is fighting the wildfires with great success.

The fake news campaign built against our sovereignty will not work, the U.S. can always count on Brazil,’’ he tweeted in delight.

That’s Fake news!

Earlier the American president – who has squared-off with environmentalists and other activists over his insistence on expanding oil exploration and other activities – also seized the chance to debunk what he called “Fake news reports” about using nuclear missiles to counter hurricanes.

President Trump’s position on the environment will likely form one of the core issues to dominate the 2020 U.S presidential elections.
