In a bid to ensure environment-friendly status, Anambra State Government has declared state of emergency in waste management and all forms of challenges militating against environmental sanitation.
To achieve the desired results, it has also officially flagged-off ‘Anambra State Environmental Action Campaign’, with theme: “Dobe Anambra Ocha’’.
The Commissioner for Environment, Mr Obi Nwankwo said this to pressmen at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex, Awka, that the ministry had itemised short and long term objectives to facilitate waste management.
According to him, “machineries have been installed to drive the process including increased effort at waste collection”.
He added that efforts would be intensified toward enlightenment as well as citizen education in waste disposal and management.
