APC calls for cancellation of results in Akwa Ibom

The All progressive Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has rejected the results of the just concluded gubernatorial elections which saw the emergence of the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governor Udom Emmanuel as winner.
Addressing a press conference in Uyo the state capital, the state chairman of the party  Ini Okopido accused the  Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of lack of
credibility and integrity to deliver free, fair and peaceful elections to the people of the State.
The party chairman claimed that the APC won elections in 26 out of 31 local Government areas.
“Results of  governorship and state house of Assembly elections in the state, as obtained from our agents across the street, clearly shows that the All progressive Congress won in 26 out of 31 local Government areas of the State. The result showed a remarkable closeness in the number of votes polled by each of the two major parties,” Okopido said.
The APC state agent Samuel Akpan also criticise the conduct of the elections, saying INEC was biased and had collaborated with the PDP.
It would be recalled that the state returning officer, professor Faradey Orumwense declared the candidate of the PDP Governor Udom Emmanuel winner with a total of 519,712 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nsima Ekere of the All Progressive Congress APC who scored 171,978 votes.
