The All Progressives Congress APC says it remains the party to beat in the forthcoming 2019 election.

Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Doguwa disclosed this position of the party, while addressing State House Correspondents at the end the resumed caucus meeting of the APC on Monday night, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The lawmaker said the APC will win again in 2019, provided President Buhari decides to re-contest for another term of office.

President Buhari, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President, Bukola Saraki and APC National Chairman, John Oyegun attends APC caucus meeting in Abuja.

“If President Muhammadu Buhari consents to run gain in 2019, which we feel he should, then we (APC) obviously don’t have any problem and the APC will remain the party to beat. At the caucus meeting, we discussed a lot of things relating to co-existence as well as to deliver on the promises made to Nigerians at our last campaign, we also have to consolidate on the gains we have made so far as a party so that when we now set out for the 2019 elections it will be like a walk over. We are very optimistic,” he said.

In their separate remarks, the National Chairman of the APC, John Oyegun said it was a fruitful meeting that looked at the calls for true federalism and the amendment of the constitution of the party.

Meanwhile, the National Executive Committee meeting of the party comes up today, Tuesday, at the APC national secretariat Abuja, with President Muhammadu Buhari attending.
