A Lieutenant General of the Nigerian Army has stated that when a man knows himself very well, he will be in a better position to function very well.

Lieutenant General Isaiac Obiako made this statement at the launching of a book titled “A-Z Mini Dictionary of Psychology” written by Major Cyril Chika Alaoma, at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Asoko.

The retired Lieutenant General, who was the Chairman of the occasion said the book would help people that find it difficult to define what they experience such as patterns, things, and characteristics with explanations of phenomena such as “abnormal fixation”.

The Book Reviewer and a Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Moses Zarua said the book is conceptualised to give the reader an improved understanding of psychology.

Gap in knowledge
The author of the book, Major Cyril Chika Alaoma said one of the major things that inspired him to write the book is the gap in knowledge.

“As an undergraduate of Psychology, there was no material to look unto in the school I grew from, I had to resort to other universities who had psychology books to borrow from them and based on the fact that these materials were foreign and very expensive, that gave me curiosity from 100 level as a student to delve into this work.

“My intention is to reach out to universities, to see how this book can impact others, it is a national project,” Major Alaoma said.

The Chief of Army Staff was represented at the occasion by the Acting Corps Commander, Nigerian Army Education Corps, Brigadier General Bainze Haruna Mohammed.
