Army offers free medical services in Niger community

The Nigerian Army has offered free medical services and distributed mosquito nets to the sarkin Pawa Community in Munya LGA of Niger State North Central Nigeria.

The medical outreach was carried out by officers and men of the 31 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army on Thursday at the local government secretariat which was attended by large population of the Community.

The medical outreach according to Brigadier General Gideon Temitope Ajetimobi, Commander of the 31 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, is to compliment the existing cordial relationship between host communities and the Military during the ongoing exercise Ayem Akpatuma and other areas of Military operations across Nigeria.

Report shows that Munya local government area, which is 84 Kilometers away from Minna the Niger State Capital, has suffered series of attacks by armed bandits and other crime activities before the intervention of the Nigerian Army to restore normalcy among the largely farming population.

While addressing members of the community, during the medical outreach, thr 31 Artillery Brigade Commander, pointed out that the medical services is one out of series of Social services designed by the Nigerian Army to compliment the existing cordial relationship in all areas of its operations.

“The medical outreach to Rafin Sarkin Pawa which covers Distribution of Mosquito nets, children immunization, General Consultation’s, Blood Sugar, Free eye test and Free eye Glasses, Dental and other Health Care Setvices, is part of the ongoing Army exercise of operation Ayem Akpatuma2 in the North Central and North western part of Nigeria, as part of the Civil Military relationships”.

Brigadier Ajetumobi who appreciated the large turn out for the medical services by members of the Community, further commended them for their security consciousness, and warmly accommodative attitude to security agencies deployed to their respective areas.

The 31 Artillery Brigade Commander further urged communities in security prone areas of Niger State, to always imbibe the habit of establishing cordial relationship with security agencies deployed to their respective zones.

He also advised them to always relate well with the Military as they are there to protect them from the evils of Kidnapping, Banditry activities and other forms of crime.

The representative of the Munya local Government council, Mr David Barde while appreciating the medical services by the Nigerian Army, commended the efforts of the Army for choosing Sarkin Pawa Community among the beneficiaries of the Military Medical Service.

He further promised to persuade and mobilise the people in the community to be accommodative to the security agencies by providing them with all necessary information that will guide them in their respective assignments.

There was also a large turn out of Women, Nursing Mothers, Children and the elderly.

Other activities held by the Nigerian Army in support of the ongoing exercise Ayem Akpatuma (Cat Race) in Niger State, North Central Nigeria, includes, Town Hall meeting in Kagara, Rafi local Government area, and Environmental Sanitation by the 31 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army.
