Association commends Nigerian government for sustaining Amnesty Programme

The Country Representative “Niger Delta for Peace” an Association of ex-Niger Delta Militants,  Mr Gideon Adioni  Sinclair has commended the Nigerian government for sustaining the Amnesty Programme that empowered over 30, 000 agitators from the Niger Delta region of the country.

Mr Sinclair gave the commendation at a forum organised to discuss the State of the Presidential Amnesty Programme in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria.

The ex-militant also called on other agitators who are not captured in the amnesty programme to use appropriate channels to express their grievances.

He then advised them not to allow any politician to use them to truncate the amnesty programme which is aimed at mitigating the suffering of people from the region.

“Chiefs, community leaders, fathers and mothers should talk to their wards not to allow selfish politicians and mischief makers who are bent on causing problem in the region to use them” he said.

Mr Sinclair added that attempts to derail the amnesty programme being champion by the Nigerian government will be resisted.

“We will continue to dialogue with the Amnesty office and relevant stakeholders to chat the way forward for the betterment of the region”
