The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ali Janga has assured citizens of the state that measures have been put in place adequate security measures for all political parties for peaceful conduct of the forthcoming gubernatorial and state house elections.
The commissioner who made the statement during a press briefing in the state called on members of the state to come out en masse to cast their votes without fear of intimidation from any persons or group of persons.
“the police and other security agencies would be all out to deal with any miscreants, political thugs that may attempt to foment trouble during the election according to the law” he said.
He noted that In line with the electoral act and for the purpose of something conduct of the election the command placed restriction orders.
“it is only statutory security agencies recognized by law will be allowed to provide security for the elections, hence, all quasi security agencies, vigilante and hunters are to stay away from the entire election process” he added.
Mr Janga, however, called on parents, traditional rulers, religious leaders, opinion leaders and guardians to prevail on their children and subject not to allow themselves to be used to cause disturbances of public peace peace before, during or after the elections as anybody arrested in the act will face the full wrath of the law.
