The Benue State House of Assembly has approved a 3.5 Billion Naira loan facility from the United Bank for Africa, for rehabilitation of roads and rural electrification.
The approval followed a request made by the State Governor, Dr Samuel Ortom to enable him carry out these projects.
The Speaker, Titus Uba made the announcement at the floor of the House on Tuesday during plenary.
Deputy Speaker, Johnson Ahubi moved the motion for the approval and the majority leader, Avine Agbom seconded the motion.
New standing committees
The Assembly also reconstituted new standing committees following the assumption of office of the new leadership of the House since the impeachment of the former speaker, Terkimbi Ikyange.
A report of the Standing Committee on health and human services on a bill for a law to make provision for the establishment of Health Insurance Scheme for all residents of the state and purposes connected therewith was presented to the assembly by A Onah to the ethics committee for deliberation.
The House resolved that the standing rules of Benue State House Assembly adopted on 10th of July, 2012 be amended and a new office be provided to be called “Deputy Majority Whip.”
They also resolved that the House should nominate a five member committee and secretary to review the standing rules of the Benue State House of Assembly within one month and be brought back for consideration.
