The Borno state government has highlighted the achievements of the governor Zulum’s administration in the ministry of environment since it assumed office a year ago.
The commissioner for Environment, Hon. Modu Buba Walama gave the ministry’s scorecard at the ongoing ministerial press briefing to highlight the achievement of the government in the last one year.
The commissioner during the briefing said: ’’the ministry was able to record some achievements in the past few months which include “township drainage system in Lassa -Askira Uba LGA.
“Drainage and channel were constructed along the major roads that were affected by erosion up to the outpost of the river.
“Drainage of Bulabulin Garnam was undertaken in collaboration with the Nigerian erosion water shade management project and it covers 2.4 kilometres the work has reached 90% completion.’’
“Plantation and establishment, waterlogged and orchard were established in Magumeri, Kaga, Konduga, Askira LGAs coving a total land area of 141 hectares among others.”
He further explained that the government of Babagana Umara Zulum has plans to raise 10 million tree seedlings in collaboration with Nigerian erosion water shade management project and national agency for great green wall in the next three years.
In this year alone government raised 2.7 million seedlings in 6 LGAs MMC, Mongono, konduga, Bama, Biu, Kala-balge.
