Nigeria's Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed.

The Federal Executive Council has forwarded a bill for the establishment of a National Meteorological Training Institute to the National Assembly.

Information and Culture Minister, Lai Mohammed made this known to Journalists on Wednesday soon after the Council’s meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Mohammed said although the institute was established in 1980, the bill is to provide the legal framework for the school.

“The National Meteorological Training Institute Onitsha, Anambra State was actually established in 1980. The institute has been training Nigerians in the area of maintenance engineering with the aim of fast-tracking technological development.

“The institute has been operating without any enabling law since its establishment so the purpose of the memo was actually to send to the National Assembly a bill that will provide the legal framework for this institute,” he said.
