Champions League: UEFA warns ‘Champions’ Club Brugge

The Belgian team Club Brugge could be thrown out of next season’s UEFA Champions League going by a warning from UEFA against leagues who prematurely end their season.

Pending a final decision on April 15, league leaders Club Brugge will be declared champions of Belgium with just a round of matches to the end of the regular season.

UEFA have now told all their 55 member-nations that anyone of them who ends his league prematurely will not feature in their competitions next season.

Reports have suggested that the Belgian league was very much aware of this threat before they decided to end the season on account of the Coronavirus Pandemic.

The Belgian league hope that their counterparts in Holland will also soon end the season so that they will not be the only ones who have prematurely ended their season.
