Collation of results in Oyo polling units

INEC officials at a Registration Area center in Ibadan South East Local Government returning unused elections materials.

Collation of results are now underway in the gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections in Oyo state.

At the moment, results are being conveyed to the collation centers from where they will be taken to the INEC office in Agodi, in Ibadan the Oyo state capital.
Voting was generally peaceful across the state, however there were some incidents of ballot box snatching in Ward 10 and 11 in Ibadan South East Local government. In ward 10 polling unit 2, Ori Aje area, the votes were cancelled as INEC staff reported that some men numbering about 20 had stormed the polling unit and harassed them. The men forcefully voted and thumb printed on multiple ballot papers.
Various polling units in Ward 11 also witnessed violence and voter intimidation. However counting had been concluded and results announced before the incidents in Ward 11 occurred.
Turn out of voters was quite high and voting started at 8am in most polling units across the state.
Voters also commended the commission saying it was an improvement from the presidential election which started late in many polling units across the state.
