Conduct of election in Taraba commendable – LG Chairman

The chairman of Jalingo Local Government Area in Taraba State North East Nigeria Mr. Abdulnasir Bobboji has said that the conduct of the Governorship and States house of Assembly elections in Taraba is quite commendable.

Mr. Bobboji said this in an interview with Journalists in Jalingo, the state capital after casting his vote at about 1:30 pm Local time.

He said compared to the Presidential and National Assembly elections INEC officials turned out early and voting commence in time in most part of Jalingo.

“ There is improvement in terms of early deployment of logistics and other equipment, there’s also improvement in terms of relative peace as you can see virtually in all polling units, though there are some decline in voter turnout in some of the polling units but so far so good the security and INEC is good everything is quite commendable”

On the low voter turnout witnessed in many of the polling Units, Mr. Bobboji said this could be due to the fact that some voters attach importance to personalities and issues, adding that recent happenings in the political circle caused tension in the state and could  be responsible for the low voter turnout.

At the time of filing this report, voting in the most of the polling Units had ended and sorting and counting of ballot papers had began
