Enyimba international today depart Nigeria for Algeria ahead of their Sunday’s matchday three CAF Confederation Cup away clash against Algeria side, Paradou AC.
The eight-time champions of the Nigeria Professional Football League are currently second in Group D with three points following their home victory against San-Pedro in Aba having previously lost their opening game to Husa by 1-0.
Coach of the Elephants, Usman Abd’Allah, said that the team will leave the country on Friday (today) having completed their last training session on Thursday.
“The team completed their last training session today (Thursday) and we will jet out of the country by midnight (today) for our away game which I am confident that the boys will do well despite the injuries.”
Abd’Allah will be without six of his key players who have been ruled out due to injuries.
Goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai, Reuben Bala, Nelson Ogbonnaya, , Thomas Zenke, Dare Olatunji and Ifeanyi Anaemena have all been ruled out of the game due to injuries.
Meanwhile, the side’s captain Andrew Abalogu is a doubtful for the away clash while second choice goalkeeper Olufemi Kayode is also nursing an injury.
A win for Enyimba will almost guarantee them a place in the quarter final of the CAF Confederation Cup tournament. Paradou A C are third in the group with a solitary point from two games.
In the other game in the group, Moroccan side Hassania Agadir who top the group with six points will face San Pedro of Ivory Coast.
Enyimba are looking to become the first Nigerian club to win the competition.
