A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, Nigeria has ordered the re-opening of Africa Independent Television, AIT and Ray Power that was closed down by the National Broadcasting Commission in Nigeria, NBC
The NBC had earlier suspended the licence of Daar Communications Plc, owners of Africa Independent Television, AIT and Ray Power indefinitely over failure of AIT and Ray power to abide by laws regulating the outfits.
In an ex parte motion, the media outfit asked the court to order the maintenance pending the hearing and determination of the suit challenging the closure of its broadcast stations.
The company also prayed the court to restrain the NBC from blocking or interfering with the air waves pending the hearing and determination of the motion filed along with the exparte application.
DAAR Communications also prayed the court to stop the NBC from closing down the premises of its operations pending the hearing and determination of the suit.
Justice Inyang Ekwo, in his ruling held that, he would not grant other prayers without hearing from other parties involved.
He therefore ordered the NBC to appear before the court on June 13, 2019 to show cause why they should not be stopped from interfering with the operations of Daar Communication PLC.
