COVID -19: FCTA charges traditional institutions to educate their subjects

Hudu Yakubu, Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has taken the sensitisation campaign on Covid-19 to the traditional rulers in Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT.

The FCT Sensitisation Team led by Abdallah Yunus Umar first called at the Palace of the Aguma of Gwagwalada where they were received by the District Head of Gwagwalada Town, Alhaji Muhammadu Lakayi on behalf of the Aguma of Gwagwalada, Alhaji Muhammadu Magaji.

The FCT Team leader who delivered the FCT Minister’s message in Hausa language said the FCT Administration is counting on the traditional rulers to speak to their subjects on all the preventive measures being canvassed by health officials including frequent handwashing with soap and water and social distancing.

Part of the message was to also reiterate the Presidential Restriction Order which requires that all residents stay in their homes for an initial period of two weeks.

During this period, all commercial activities, social and religious gatherings are prohibited.

The monarchs are expected to transmit these messages to their subjects in their languages to ensure strict compliance.

In Zuba, the FCT Team was received by the Agora of Zuba, Alhaji Mohammed Bello Umar and all the District Heads and religious leaders in his domain in attendance.

Both monarchs promised to ensure the FCT Minister’s message gets to their subjects through the District Heads and Religious leaders.
