Desertification: Jigawa Artisans plant 200 trees in school


The Association of Tradesmen and Artisans in Jigawa has planted 200 tree seedlings at Imamu Bn-Malik Primary School and its environs in Birniwa Local Government Area of the state.

The association’s Chairman, Alhaji Badamasi Dutse, who was speaking while planting trees in Birniwa, said the campaign was aimed at complimenting government’s effort toward tackling desertification.

He said that the association had provided 200 baskets to protect the seedlings from straying animals.

Dutse said it planned to plant 1,000 more trees at five schools in the area before January, 2020.

Alhaji Usman Adamu , the representative of the local government council commended the association for its foresight and urged the school to ensure the trees were watered daily.

Responding, the school headmaster, Idris Mohammad, thanked the association for planting the trees and promised to take good care of them.
