Eid-al-Adha: Cleric calls for modest celebration, peaceful coexistence

Muslims across the country on Sunday marked Eid all Adha for the year 1440 Islamic lunar calendar.

In Kwara State, Muslims converged on various prayer grounds to observe the two-rakah supererogatory prayers to mark the day.

At the Ilorin Central Eid Prayer Ground, the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Saliu led the prayer at ten o’clock this morning.

Imam Bashir urged children to be obedient to God Almighty and their parents as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail which led to the Eid al Adha festival.

The Chief Imam harped on the need to sacrifice approved animals for the commemoration of the day.

Imam Bashir prayed for peace and security in Ilorin and the state in general.

In his address, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari congratulated Muslims on the celebration and urged Muslims to be modest in the celebration.

The Emir appealed to the people of Ilorin to continue to live in peace and unity and show compassion at all times.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari prayed Allah to give wisdom and guidance to all leaders in elective and appointive positions for the benefit of humanity.

Speaking with newsmen, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Aminu Logun who stood in for the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq sued for peaceful co-existence for the progress and development of the state.

Alhaji Logun appealed to Kwarans to sustain the tempo of peace existing in the state.

VON correspondent reports that the Chief of Staff later led the State Government delegation to the palace to pay sallah homage to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.
