Eid-al-Fitr to be celebrated on Sunday – Sultan

The Sultan of Sokoto and President General Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has declared Sunday the 24th day of May, 2020 as Eid fitr day.

The Sultan in a statement said the Sultanate Council Committee on Religious Affairs in conjunction with the National Moon sighting committees have not received any information on sighting of Moon of Shawwal 1441 AH.

on Friday 22nd May, 2020 which was the 29th day of Ramadan 1441 AH no information was received across the country on the sighting of the moon of Shawwal 1441 AH, therefore, Saturday, 23rd May, 2020 is the 30th day of the month of Ramadan 1441 AH.

Sultan Sa’ad also declared Sunday 24th of May, 2020 as the first day of Shawwal 1441 AH as Day of Eid-el-Fitr.

He however felicitated with the Nigerian Muslims and wish them Allah’s guidance and protection.

He urged Muslims to continue to pray for Peace progress and development of the country.

The Sultan also prayed to Almighty Allah to accept all Ibadat observed by Muslims during the month of Ramadan.
