President Muhammadu Buhari says he is impressed with the spirit of hard work exhibited by Nigerians at all times.

He has therefore urged citizens to continue with the same spirit in order to benefit more from the natural resources God has blessed the country with.

The President made the remarks at the State House on Friday, when he received a delegation from the inhabitants of the Federal capital territory Abuja on Sallah homage, as Muslims mark this year’s Eid-el-fitr celebration.

“Gentlemen I am very impressed with the turnout this year. I am very pleased that we Nigerians have been working very hard collectively and God in his infinite mercies will continue to guide us so that we accommodate each other at all times. I am very happy that this country is blessed with human and material resources,” he said.

President Buhari emphasised that Nigerians need to continue to pray for the unity and progress of the nation.

He said: “I think we’ve got so much in this country that we need to continue to pray and let us develop the necessary confidence to work together as a people. This country is great, let us work together so that we can save a lot more and explore more of the resources that we abandoned so many years ago.”

The President said all citizens of the country must remain within it and salvage the country, adding that even those who left the country in search of greener pastures are now looking for ways to come back because they are not wanted out there.

Earlier in his remarks, leader of the delegation, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammmed Bello, thanked God for the endowments he has bestowed on the nation.

Bello thanked citizens of the FCT for living in peace and always supporting the administration in carrying out its duties.

Also speaking on behalf of the National Assembly, Senator Bala Ibn Na-Allah pledged the commitment and loyalty of all legislators to work together with the president for the betterment of the country.

He stated that so far, no Nigerian President has received the amount of cooperation President Buhari is receiving from the National Assembly.

Highpoint of the event was the presentation a giant Sallah card by the delegation to President Buhari and his family.

The delegation comprised religious leaders and traditional rulers as well as legislators and heads of security agencies residing in the Federal capital Territory, Abuja.

Earlier in the day, President Buhari observed the two raqa’at prayer at Lungi Barracks, just behind the Presidential Villa, Abuja
