Elections: Katsina residents turn out en masse to vote

The 2019 Gubernatorial and State house of Assembly elections are ongoing in Katsina state, North West Nigeria in a peaceful atmosphere.

There is a large turnout of voters in some of the polling units visited by Voice of Nigeria.

Accreditation and Voting are going on simultaneously.

Each of the polling unit has security personnel but the military Personnel are stationed in the major streets.

At Ahmed Comasi primary school polling unit, electorates were on queue to cast their votes and INEC officers and elections materials are on ground.

Also at Kudu polling Unit 013, the place where the Deputy Governor Manir Yakubu is expected to cast his vote, the polling unit has a total number of one thousand and fifty six registered voters.

Speaking to VON Correspondent, voters who were on ground to cast their vote expressed their satisfaction with the early arrival of electoral materials and INEC officers in the polling unit.

They also commended the orderliness as exhibited by most of the potential voters to discharge their civil right and the peaceful conduct of security personnel present at the polling unit.

As of the time of filling this report the Katsina state Deputy Governor is yet to arrive in the polling unit to vote.

Other polling unit visited by VON Correspondent are Rafi Dadi ward, polling Unit 030 with registered voters one thousand two hundred and ninety five.

Some of the electorates who spoke to VON confirmed that the turn of voters during this gubernatorial and state house Assembly elections in Katsina were low when compared to that of the Presidential and National Assembly elections that took place two weeks ago.
