Enyimba beat Abia Warriors in local derby


Enyimba International Football Club of Aba on Wednesday in Calabar defeated Abia Warriors FC 1-0 in a Match Day 6 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The match played at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar ended 0-0 at the half time before the home side got their winning goal through Stanley Dimgba in the 74th minute.

The Umuahia-based visitors made frantic efforts to equalise, but the Enyimba side held on to the lone goal until the end.

Enyimba’s Head Coach, Paul Aigbogun, said after the match, that his team was well prepared to emerge victorious at the end of the season.

I am happy that we got our three points today. It is a thing of joy to us and the management of the club,’’ he said.

On his part, the coach of Abia Warriors, Emmanuel Deutcsh, commended his defensive and offensive players, saying they did well in spite of the defeat.
