Europe’s football showpiece – The EURO 2020 – has come under the threat of being suspended, no thanks to the current coronavirus ravaging the globe.
The Stadio Olympico in Rome, Italy, is expected to host the first match on June 12.
Other Cities slated to host include Amsterdam, Baku, Bilbao, Bucharest, Budapest, Copenhagen, Dublin, Glasgow, London, Munich, Rome and St Petersburg.
But Italy is one of three countries most devastated by the scourge that has left over 2000 dead and thousands more affected.
UEFA admits the tournament is now threatened – unless something happens pretty fast.
“We are at the waiting stage. We are monitoring country by country, and football must follow the orders of the individual countries,” says UEFA executive committee member Michelle Uva.
“The sporting path will only be closed if the situation gets worse.”
