The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Nigeria State Health Investment Project (N-SHIP), Abdullahi Musa has advised health workers in Nigeria to ensure proper record keeping and data management of patients.
Musa gave the advice at a five-day training workshop on Performance Based Financing for health workers in Nasarawa State, organised by N-SHIP.
He explained that the aim of the training was to enhance the capacity of data managers, monitoring and evaluation officers as well as other health workers to achieve quality data collection in their respective health facilities.
According to him, effective data management and record keeping is vital in achieving optimal results in every organisation, hence the need for the workshop.
“This training is to equip you with basic skills on record keeping and data management for effective service delivery.
This training will improve a lot, especially strengthening the national data because in N-SHIP, we are doing a lot of verification of data.
There will be no form of falsification of data, among others, which will in turn boost the health status of Nigerians,” he said.
Musa called on the participants to use the knowledge gained in their respective facilities in the interest of the health of the people and for overall development of the country.
The N-SHIP official assured of the organisation’s continuous determination to train and re-train health workers for effective service delivery.
The workshop attracted more than 40 participants from the state Ministry of Health and Hospital Management Board.
