Falode celebrates NWPL legend Oshoala

The Chairperson of the Nigeria Women’s Football League, Aisha Falode, has hailed Asisat Oshoala, after she won the CAF African Women’s Footballer of The Year award for a fourth time in Egypt on Tuesday.
The Super Falcons captain had earlier CAF awards were won in 2014, 2016 and 2017.
With the feat, Oshoala equaled the record set by fellow Nigerian, Perpetua Nkwocha, who had also won the women’s award four times in the past.
She also became the second African footballer to win the gong four times between 2010 and 2019 after Ivory Coast’s Yaya Toure.
Falode lauded the Barcelona striker, who graduated from the NWFL playing for Lagos-based FC Robo, before stints at big European sides Arsenal Ladies, Liverpool Ladies, China and then Barcelona.
Falode, disclosed that, Oshoala’s feat, is a huge encouragement to young and budding talents in the three categories of the Nigeria women’s league ;- the Premier League, the Professional League and the Amateur league.

Falode, urged her to keep striving hard to become the best in women’s football globally.
“Oshoala, who scored 15 goals in 19 matches, including a goal in the Champions League final, is good enough to win the World Footballer of the Year award with hard work and dedication,” the NWFL boss said.
