Family demands justice for assassination of House of Reps member

Olubunmi Osoteku, Ibadan

Family, friends and political associates have demanded justice for the killing of the late Mr. Temitope Olatoye Sugar, a member of the House of Representatives.

The eldest brother to the deceased, Mr. Olajide Olatoye, in the company of friends made the call on Sunday during a Press conference held at the OSF Secretariat, Bodija, Ibadan.

The Lawmaker, who until his death represented Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency in Oyo State, was murdered at Lalupon area of Ibadan during the March 9 Governorship and House of Assembly polls.

Olatoye, who spoke on behalf of the family, urged the government and security agencies to ensure perpetrators of the heinous crime were brought to book.

He declared, “We really commend AIG Leye Oyebade of Zone II and CP Shina Olukolu of Oyo State Command, for their prompt response and investigation of the killing which led to the arrest of some suspects.”

“I am very sure those arrested by the police were leaders of those who masterminded our son’s killing,” he noted.

The eldest Olatoye decried reports against the Lawmaker on social media, describing them as a “campaign of calumny”.

Olatoye said that the late Lawmaker lived a fulfilled and philanthropic life, and was committed to the well-being of the downtrodden throughout his lifetime.

The deceased’s brother extended the family’s appreciation to friends, the general public and well wishers for their support, while also commending the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.
