FCT area council flags off measles, meningitis vaccination campaign

Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, in the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has officially flagged-off Measles and Meningitis ‘A’ Vaccination campaign in the council.
The Executive Chairman of the council, Abdullahi Adamu Candido performed the exercise in Abuja Nigeria’s capital.
The Chairman called on District Heads to give their total support and direct all village heads to support the exercise in order to achieve zero rejection and zero cases of death at this period of heat season.
Hon. Candido described the traditional rulers as not only government official but also natural leaders.
He encouraged them to supervise and monitor the activities and ensure total compliance at the grassroot level.
The World Health Organization (WHO) FCT Consultant, Dr. Samuel Kondwani appreciated Nigerians for their support and cooperation which led Nigeria to reach the immunization bench mark.
Dr. Felicia Aibinuomo, UNICEF C4D Consultant declared that they are ready to go extra mile to achieve the set target and realize the objective of the exercise.
She also requested for total compliance and cooperation of relevant stakeholders to achieve the goal.
Earlier, the representative of the Acting Executive Secretary FCT Primary Health Care Development Agency (PHCDA) Dr. Obanewa express the readiness of the Agency to achieve it all.
The Measles and Meningitis Vaccination exercise will commence on Saturday 16th November, 2019 and end on Monday 25th November, 2019.
The Measles vaccination is for Children under the age of Nine Months to Five years (MEASLES 9 Months – 5 Years), while Meningitis is for children within the ages of one year to five years (MENINGITIS 1 year – 5 years).
