FCTA approves appointment of new Director of Human Resources

The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, in Nigeria has approved the appointment of Dr. Lazarus Gaza, as the new Director in charge of Human Resources Development of the administration to sustain efficient service delivery system in the administration.

Voice of Nigeria’s Correspondent learnt that the appointment which has been approved by the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello, takes immediate effect.

Until his appointment, Mr Gaza was the Director, Admin and Finance, Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat, in the Federal Cpital Territory Administration between 2016  to 2018.

Mr Gaza who hails from Pyakasa village of the Abuja Municipal Area Council of FCT obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree (B. A. Hons) in History and Political Science in 1985 from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, before he proceeded to obtain his Doctorate Degree in Geography from the same university in 2008.

His career progression cuts across various disciplines of human management.

He was once the Managing Director, Upper Niger River Basin Development Authority, Federal Ministry of Water Resources between 2015 to 2016, Director, FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board between 2008 to 2014, Head of Department of Administration, Area Council Service Commission between 2004 to 2006 and Council Secretary, Abuja Municipal Area Council between 2003 to 2004.

Other positions held include Head of Administration, Abuja Municipal Area Council, between 1999 to 2002, Programme Monitoring Adviser, FCT United Nations Development Programme, (UNDP), between 1996 to 1998, Head of Establishment, Area Council Service Commission between 1992 to 1993, Elected First Honourabe Member, House of Representative, Abuja Municipal, Federal Constituency, FCT between 1990 to 1991 and Community Development Inspector I Ministry of Federal Capital Territory Abuja, between 1989 to 1990.

Mr Gaza is a Fellow, Common Wealth Association of Administration Management and has contributed to the creation of Kabusa Ward, which provided a political platform for councillorship elections in Abuja Municipal Area Council, FCT in 2009.

It could be recalled that Mr Lazarus Gaza took over from Hajia Amina Abubakar who retired from active service after 35 years meritorious service. He has since assumed office.
