The Federal Government has donated fire fighting equipment to Kwara State Fire Service to help boost its fire fighting operations.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of Kwara State, the Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi commended the Federal Government for the noble gesture saying it will help strengthen the state government’s preparedness to combat fire disaster and rescue lives and property in record time.
The Governor noted that his administration had improved the level of preparedness and response to fire outbreaks by procuring two skytic modern rapid intervention fire trucks and one firefighter truck.
AbdulRazaq commended the commitment of state fire officers in handling fire calls and called on Kwarans to cooperate with the fire service for better service.
At the commissioning and handing over of the fire trucks to the Kwara State Fire Service Training school in Ilorin, the Comptroller General of the Federal Fire Service, Dr. Ibrahim Liman, represented by Assistant Comptroller General of the service, Mr. Callistus Agu, explained that the fire truck is donated to serve dual purpose, adding that it would be used to fighting fire and for the training of firefighters in the North Central Geopolitical Zone of the country.
Dr Liman said that firefighting is everybody’s business, hence the need for synergy between the Federal and State Government to curtail the menace of fire outbreak.
The Comptroller General of the fire service also solicited for improved training and welfare of state firefighters as practiced in other states.
