Five teams I fear at the world cup – Messi

Argentine football maestro Lionel Messi has revealed the five teams he dreads facing at the 2018 FIFA World Cup scheduled for Russia later this week.

The Albiceleste who struggled to qualify thanks to the last-gasp heroics of Messi, are grouped against Nigeria, Croatia and Iceland.

Many analysts believe this group is favourable, provided they finish on top.

But speaking with European magazine SPORTS, Messi identified five teams he said posed a threat to Argentina’s third World Cup bid.

“There are various teams going in to the tournament with confidence, playing well and with good individuals, as is the case with Brazil, Germany, Spain, France and Belgium, although the latter is not mentioned as much. [Argentina] have good players and the experience of the last World Cup. It will be an even competition,” he said.

While admitting that steering Argentina to victory was his goal, the FC Barcelona forward insisted nothing else would change.

“It will be the same as before this tournament in Russia. I have won a lot with my club and the following year the motivation is always the same, the idea always to win again. With the World Cup, it would be the same. I will not change anything,” Messi insisted.
