The Federal Road Safety Corps has ordered the full registration of motorcycles and tricycles in Gombe state, as part of measures to curb the current security situation in the country.
A statement by the agency in Gombe, said the action was a directive of the Federal Government in view of the current security situation in the country and crime committed with that category of vehicles.
The statement called on the people of Gombe to ensure compliance, because by August 1, the Road Safety Corps would begin the Class A Licensing of motor tricycles and tricycles.
In the meantime, the Federal Road Safety has also announced that it will soon begin to sanction indiscriminate parking of vehicles along major roads and locations in the Gombe Metropolis, such as New Mile 3, Rainbow Roundabout, Kano Road Junction, among others.
It advised that the vehicles be parked at their temporary garage, while they await conclusion of arrangements on the use of the new ultra-modern Trailer Bay along Bauchi Road.
Gombe state Federal Road Safety command says Drivers license is the official requirement for all intended persons to drive any type of vehicle and it is also mandatory for riders of tricycles and motor cycles to obtain riding licenses.
The Command has urged all riders in the state to get their licenses before August 1st 2019, which is the enforcement date.
This action became necessary in view of the security situation in the country.
According to the information made available to Press in Gombe State, the Federal Road Safety said majority of crimes were committed with motorcycles.
